On this eve of The Feast of All Saints we hear Jesus speak of the kingdom of God as something that grows. LK 13:18-21 Whether it is the seed that grows into a bush or the yeast and flour that rise as dough, the kingdom is being compared to things that grow or expand. We know that it is not God that grows, He lacks nothing. If God is not expanding, growing, or changing, what is? The kingdom of God is still filling out to it’s fulfilled size. The easiest way of understanding this is that not all of the members of this kingdom are there yet.
This section of the Gospel is fitting for the day before we celebrate all the Saints because it is the Saints who are those members of the kingdom.
